Being a pioneer project of Instituto Superior Técnico (1996), it was implemented with a specific model for Taguspark from 2010. The Mentoring Program gives students of the same course a closer approach to each other, not only among students of the same year, but also from more advanced years, thus contributing to better integration.
The Mentoring Program (portuguese version only) has been constantly improving over the years to provide increasingly efficient support for students.
Who is the Mentor?
Mentor is a student of the same course, 2nd or 3rd year, who will assist new students at the enrollment and academic integration throughout the year.
Mentor Application
June / July runs the Mentor application period for the following school year. Following is an interview at the Taguspark Student Support office for volunteer profiling.
Mentor Activities
- Welcome Week
New Student Enrollment and Student Reception Organization – Over the Welcome Week, Mentors must be present on their course enrollment path. Each new student is assigned a Mentor on the first day of enrollment. New students will be accompanied throughout the process by the Mentors present (preferably by their Mentor).
- Room 1.1
As part of the contribution to the good academic performance, the group study room (room 1-1, floor 1) was created, which works exclusively for 1st year students and their Mentors, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. The study groups are streamlined by Mentors, or integrated into professor shedules of the respective CUs.
- Monitoring the success of the Mentoring students
Throughout the semester, Mentors maintain contact with their Mentoring students through several tools and communication activities.
